Learning to delegate is likely one of the most powerful tools for those on the path of success. Diversions are probably one of the worst problems that you will face. You see, while things are in the startup mode, you need to do everything, know everything, and decide everything. But, with growth, your time will not expand with the success of your business.
The reality is that there is only ONE OF YOU, and there is most often the mindset that others can't handle things as well as you. So, there is the underlying need to find people who have skills or the chore of training people to do things your way.
Always in the delegation process is the need to get status reports. Set a time to follow up with those in your team to make sure that they are focused, moving forward, and on target. This can be done with good humor, but keep everyone in line when you find that they are not moving the program forward.
Think about momentum! Moving things forward is not you worker harder dragging your staff behind. You are the general and your captains should be on the front line winning new ground for their general.
